The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has arrested Jamaal E. Moody, 33, of Lyons, following a violent domestic incident early Tuesday on E Maple Ave in Newark. Deputies responded after reports that Moody assaulted a woman throughout the night, striking her and stealing her phone and keys.
Moody allegedly choked the victim, brandished a knife, and prevented her from leaving the residence, despite her attempts to flee. The victim was identified as the protected party in an active order of protection against Moody.
After barricading himself inside the residence, Moody was arrested without further incident. He faces multiple charges, including strangulation, aggravated contempt of court, and grand larceny. He is being held at the Wayne County Jail pending court proceedings.
