Canandaigua man arrested after burglary in Geneva: Police say victim was shaken, but unharmed

A Canandaigua man was arrested early Monday following a burglary on Hallenbeck Avenue in Geneva. Police responded around 1 a.m. and found a female victim, shaken but unharmed, who reported that the suspect forcibly entered her home and stole her phone.

With assistance from an Ontario County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, police apprehended Laron Jaquan Cheeks, 26, on Seneca Street. Cheeks was charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree robbery, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.

Authorities believe this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. Cheeks was processed at the Geneva Police Department and is currently held at the Ontario County Jail awaiting arraignment.
