Mets sign OF Eddie Rosario to minor-league contract

The New York Mets are bolstering their outfield depth with a new addition.

According to Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated, veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario has signed a minor-league contract with the Mets and is set to join Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

Rosario was designated for assignment by the Atlanta Braves on August 8 and opted for free agency on August 11.

In 2023, Rosario had a solid season with the Braves, recording a .255/.305/.450 slash line, 21 home runs, and 74 RBI over 142 games.

However, the 32-year-old has struggled in 2024, splitting time between the Washington Nationals, who released him on July 3, and a second stint with the Braves. Across 91 games this season, Rosario has managed a .175/.215/.316 slash line with a .531 OPS, 10 homers, and 35 RBI.

The Mets’ outfield situation is evolving, with right fielder Starling Marte close to returning from a knee injury as he continues his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse.
