Firefighters swiftly contained a basement fire at 105 N. Fulton St. on Sunday, August 11, after smoke and flames were spotted coming from a basement window. Auburn Fire Department’s Engine 2 identified the source as an electrical service issue, prompting NYSEG to cut power to the residence.
Seventeen firefighters worked to limit the damage to the exterior walls near the main power supply, bringing the fire under control within 90 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The Auburn Fire Department was supported by NYSEG, Auburn Police Department, Auburn City Ambulance, and Auburn Code Enforcement. The fire was ruled accidental.
