Dwight Freeney, former Syracuse University standout and NFL star, will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. As one of five modern-era selections for the Hall’s 2024 class, Freeney’s illustrious career is being celebrated in Canton, Ohio. His time at Syracuse included being named Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2001 and setting a school record with 50.5 tackles for loss.
Freeney was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He spent 11 seasons with the Colts and ended his career with 350 tackles, 125.5 sacks, 47 forced fumbles, seven Pro Bowl appearances, and a Super Bowl victory.
After his tenure with the Colts, Freeney played for five different teams over five seasons before retiring. Known for his dominant presence on the field, his induction into the Hall of Fame cements his legacy as one of the greatest defensive ends in NFL history.
