Harris vs. Trump: Election Race Takes Dramatic Turn

With 100 days until Election Day, the presidential race has dramatically shifted following President Biden’s unexpected withdrawal. Biden’s decision, made amid growing pressure after a poor debate performance, has reshaped the 2024 contest, thrusting Vice President Kamala Harris into the Democratic spotlight.

Harris quickly garnered widespread support, securing endorsements from Democratic leaders and raising $129 million in the week following Biden’s announcement. Former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama also endorsed her, further solidifying her position as the party’s nominee, pending the formal convention roll call.

Former President Donald Trump wasted no time targeting Harris at a rally in North Carolina, labeling her “lying Kamala Harris” and criticizing her record. Trump’s campaign has focused on defining Harris as a radical leftist and linking her to controversial policies, particularly around border security and crime.

Harris, leveraging her extensive legal background, has countered by highlighting Trump’s legal troubles. “I know Donald Trump’s type,” she said, referencing her history as California’s Attorney General and emphasizing her experience in prosecuting fraud and abuse. As the race intensifies, both campaigns are set for an aggressive showdown leading up to November.
