Syracuse University graduate Mike Tirico will be NBC’s lead announcer for the NBA when the league returns to the network in the 2025-26 season. This news comes as Tirico prepares to host the 2024 Paris Olympic Games for NBC.
NBC Sports President Rick Cordella confirmed Tirico’s new role in an interview with The Athletic. NBC has signed an 11-year media rights deal with the NBA, Disney, and Amazon Prime Video, securing Tirico’s position as the primary voice for NBA broadcasts.
Tirico, a 1988 graduate of SU’s Newhouse School, has an extensive broadcasting career, including the Olympics, NFL, and NBA games. Fellow Syracuse alum Noah Eagle is also expected to be part of NBC’s NBA coverage team.
