Governor Kathy Hochul has announced $15 million in funding for suicide prevention services targeting at-risk youth. The funds will support programs for Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, Asian American/Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaskan Native, and LGBTQ+ youth.
The grants will help community-based service providers develop culturally appropriate programs to reduce suicide risks among these historically underserved populations. Organizations like Contact Community Services and the Child Center of New York are among the recipients.
“New York’s suicide prevention efforts are nation-leading, and these awards will help develop innovative programs for our most vulnerable young people,” said Governor Hochul. The programs aim to build a sense of safety and connectedness and provide critical mental health support.
