Governor Kathy Hochul informed New Yorkers about global computer system outages affecting the state. The issues stem from a software update by CrowdStrike, causing disruptions in both private businesses and New York State Government systems.
“This is not a hack or cybersecurity threat but a technical issue,” Governor Hochul clarified. Emergency services are a priority, and all 911 systems across New York’s 62 counties are operational with backup systems in place.
The outages have also impacted DMVs and airline operations, though the MTA remains fully operational. Efforts are ongoing to resolve the issue, with CrowdStrike working on a fix. Governor Hochul assured continuous updates as the situation develops.
