A former Palmyra resident was arrested for animal cruelty after videos showed him beating a Great Dane named Willow. Brian Gelletto, 51, was investigated by Palmyra Village Police for incidents that occurred in February 2023.

The videos revealed Gelletto repeatedly hitting and kicking Willow while he lived on Birdsall Parkway. After he moved to Canandaigua, the evidence surfaced, leading to his arrest. Willow, who had multiple litters, was taken by Palmyra Animal Control to the Humane Society of Wayne County. She was found with an open wound and is now recovering.

Gelletto was charged with animal cruelty and released on an appearance ticket for Palmyra Village Court on August 6. Willow will be put up for adoption once she recovers.
