For a second night in a row, the New York Mets picked up an extra-inning victory against the Washington Nationals, winning 7-2 to move back over .500 at 42-41.
With the game tied at two in the top of the 10th, Jose Iglesias lined a run-scoring double, and the Mets turned it into another massive inning, adding four more to pull away.
Brandon Nimmo, who tied the game with an RBI single in the eighth, doubled in a run to increase the lead. Mark Vientos followed with an RBI single before Pete Alonso capped the scoring with his 18th home run of the season.
Francisco Lindor put New York on the board in the sixth with his 14th long ball.
Sean Manaea tossed seven strong frames, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out five. Jose Buttó tossed two scoreless, and Dedniel Núñez closed it out.
The Mets will try to take the first three games of this four-game series on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.
