A public hearing is scheduled to discuss the renovation progress of Verona Village Apartments in Ovid, which received a $4.8 million state grant for a $9.5 million overhaul.

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors approved the hearing for 6 p.m. on July 9 at the County Office Building. The hearing will cover the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, with at least 80% already spent. Written comments are accepted until July 5.

The 46-unit complex, managed by Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services since 2019, had not seen major renovations since its construction 42 years ago. Updates include new heating, cooling, ventilation, windows, and ADA-compliant features. The improvements aim to extend the facility’s lifespan by 50 years, ensuring continued affordable housing for seniors and the disabled.
