The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is offering free Boater Safety Classes for the public to help meet the New York State requirement for a Safe Boating Certificate by January 1, 2025.
The classes will be held in two-day sessions from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center in Romulus. Dates for the classes are July 11-12, July 23-24, and August 6-7. Participants must attend both sessions to complete the course. While the classes are free, a $10 fee payable to New York State Parks is required for the certificate. Students must be at least ten years old.
Topics include boating safety, rules of the nautical road, and required safety equipment. The classes will be taught by members of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit.
