The New York Mets (21-25) got back in the win column and avoided a three-game sweep with a 7-3 victory over the Miami Marlins (15-33) on Sunday afternoon at LoanDepot Park.
New York scored four first-inning runs and never looked back despite Miami cutting the deficit to one in the eighth before the Mets tacked on some insurance runs.
Brandon Nimmo cranked his seventh home run of the season, a two-run shot. Tyrone Taylor had a two-run double, Harrison Bader plated two with a single, and Brett Baty added a run-scoring single.
Sean Manaea tossed five innings of two-run ball. Sean Reid-Foley and Reed Garrett posted scoreless outings, while Jake Diekman surrendered a run.
The Mets will head to Cleveland to begin a three-game series with the Guardians, starting Monday at 6:10 p.m.
