Canandaigua announces major road closures as work season gets underway

City officials have announced that North Bloomfield Road in North Bloomfield will be closed to through traffic until May 2025 due to extensive roadwork. The project, which began on April 29, includes the reconstruction of the roadway, new sidewalks, and upgrades to water, sewer, and storm-water systems, according to City Manager John Goodwin.

Residents of North Bloomfield Road and nearby Chosen Spot Apartments will retain access during the construction. However, those living on Dorset Drive, Douglas Drive, Arlington Park, and Pickering Street will need to use alternative routes via Buffalo Street and Arlington Park. A detour will also direct general traffic around the construction via North Street, Outhouse Road, and Buffalo Street.

Additionally, starting May 13, work will commence on the Lakeshore Drive bridge, expected to last until November. This project will see one lane closed with a traffic light managing the flow, ensuring access to key locations like the YMCA, Civic Center, and Constellation Brands.
