Village of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs will host downtown revitalization meeting on May 13

The villages of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs are advancing plans to allocate a $10 million state grant aimed at downtown revitalization. A Local Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Union Springs Fire Department. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link is available for remote participation.

This meeting marks a significant step in the utilization of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant awarded in February, after the villages submitted a joint application showcasing over 40 proposed projects. The 19-member committee will discuss and determine the allocation of funds to these projects. The meeting will conclude with a public comment period, allowing community input on the discussion.

Leadership for the committee includes Cayuga County Legislature Chairwoman Aileen McNabb-Coleman and mayors from the participating villages. Emma Phillips of C&S Companies has been appointed as the project manager and lead consultant for the initiative, overseeing the strategic planning and implementation phases.
