Acquired by Biotek LLC in October 2021 for $818,000, the extensive property, which spans a city block and covers 260,000 square feet, is being planned as an assisted living and nursing care facility with more than 300 beds.
City officials say they are optimistic about the redevelopment, which is still in its early stages. They highlighted the project’s potential impact, noting its $70 million scale and the significant economic boost it could bring through job creation and increased activity in the area.
The development is in a federal Opportunity Zone, adding financial incentives for this substantial investment. The project still needs funding to get started.
