Former Steuben County Assistance District Attorney pleads guilty to child porn charges

James Miller, a 63-year-old former Assistant District Attorney from Steuben County, entered a plea agreement on charges of possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. The plea deal, agreed upon following an FBI investigation, stipulates that Miller could serve 3 to 4 years in jail. Authorities also outlined that Miller would face fines ranging from $15,000 to $150,000 and be under supervised release for at least five years.

The investigation, initiated by a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, led to the discovery of over 100 illicit images on Miller’s cell phone and computer. New York State Police had arrested Miller in May 2021 after executing a search at his Corning residence.

Under the terms of his plea, Miller is required to pay restitution of no less than $3,000 per victim. This case underscores ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation.
