The New York Mets losing streak reached three games on Tuesday night as they fell 5-1 to the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park.
New York (12-11) registered nine hits but could only push across one run, which came in the ninth inning on DJ Stewart’s groundout. Starling Marte went 3-for-4, while Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil collected two hits each.
Luis Severino was perfect through four innings but ran into trouble in the fifth, allowing three runs before completing six. Drew Smith gave up the other two runs.
The Mets will try to avoid the three-game sweep on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. Sean Manaea will get the start.
