The New York Yankees used a four-run first inning to pick up a 4-3 bounce-back win over the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.
New York (16-8) fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first but responded with four in the bottom of the frame. Giancarlo Stanton smoked a two-run double and Anthony Rizzo crushed a two-run home run.
Marcus Stroman allowed three runs over 5.1 innings while striking out nine. Ron Marinaccio, Caleb Ferguson, Dennis Santana, and Clay Holmes combined for 4.2 scoreless innings.
Clarke Schmidt will take the ball on Wednesday as the Yankees look to take a 2-1 series lead. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
