Canandaigua man sentenced to life for fatal South Carolina shooting

A 19-year-old from Canandaigua was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the tragic death of a six-year-old boy in South Carolina. Jerimiah Harley, alongside a 21-year-old co-defendant, entered guilty pleas on Tuesday for the 2022 murder in Orangeburg County. Their conviction follows a fatal drive-by shooting incident.

The incident, which took place last year, involved four suspects mistakenly firing 21 shots into a home they were not targeting. Tragically, Winston Hunter was killed while sitting on his family’s couch at their McClain Street residence during the attack, which occurred just before midnight.

While Harley and his immediate accomplice have been sentenced, two other suspects remain pending trial. The case has drawn considerable attention for the senseless violence and the young age of the victim.
