Seneca County launches initiative to combat overdose crisis

  • Staff Report

Seneca County’s Opioid Task Force, in collaboration with Truth Pharm, is rolling out several projects funded by Opioid Settlement Funds to address the overdose epidemic. These initiatives aim to engage the community and provide educational resources on substance use. Truth Pharm, known for its impactful grassroots efforts and founded after the founder’s personal loss, will lead two community conversations at different county locations to facilitate discussions on substance use and available services, with participants having a chance to win a $100 gift card.

In addition to conversations, a social media campaign is set to involve community members in spreading messages about addiction and recovery. An interactive photo and video shoot scheduled for April 17th at Taughannock Falls State Park will allow participants to express their support and share their perspectives on solutions to the overdose crisis. Each participant contributing to the photo shoot and video recording will receive a $25 gift card as a token of appreciation for their involvement.

To further understand community needs and experiences related to addiction treatment and support, Seneca County is distributing a community survey, accessible online and at the planned events. This comprehensive approach, incorporating direct community engagement and feedback, signifies Seneca County’s commitment to reducing overdose fatalities and supporting recovery within the community.
