Steuben County has launched the “Fire Up New York Red” campaign, illuminating the Steuben County Courthouse in red to honor local firefighters and highlight the urgent need for more volunteer firefighters. This initiative is part of the 15th annual RecruitNY campaign, aiming to attract new volunteers to support the essential services provided by firefighters across the state.

The campaign, announced on the county’s Facebook page, seeks to bring attention to the critical role firefighters play in the community, as well as the growing challenge of declining volunteer numbers amidst increasing emergency calls.

Steuben County is calling on its residents to consider joining the volunteer fire service, underscoring the opportunity to make a significant difference in their community. With emergency calls on the rise and volunteer numbers dwindling, the campaign is a crucial step towards ensuring that local fire departments remain equipped and ready to handle any challenge, reinforcing the community’s resilience and safety.
