The series opener between the Miami Marlins and New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Monday will not be played during the afternoon as originally scheduled.

The team announced Thursday night that after discussions with Major League Baseball, they have changed the start time from 2:05 p.m. to 6:05 p.m.

The total solar eclipse is expected to pass over the New York City area around 2 p.m.

Despite the time change, Yankee Stadium gates will open early to guests with valid tickets beginning at 3:00 p.m.
