The New York State Thruway Authority announced the reopening of the Warners Service Area as part of a significant $450 million project to modernize all 27 service areas. This newly reopened service area, located in Warners, NY, marks the 15th of its kind and introduces a variety of dining options, including Burger King, Chick-fil-A, and Starbucks. Notably, it is the first among five service areas to offer an adult changing station, enhancing accessibility for all travelers.

This initiative, highlighted by the collaboration between Senator Helming and the Thruway Authority, reflects a commitment to improving facilities for motorists with disabilities. The addition of adult changing stations is celebrated as a step towards dignity and respect for travelers with special needs, providing a safe and secure space for care.

The project, a public-private partnership with Empire State Thruway Partners, also includes the introduction of universal fast charging stations for electric vehicles. This redevelopment aims not only to enhance the traveling experience with modern amenities and increased accessibility but also to support sustainable transportation solutions across New York’s Thruway system.
