The City of Ithaca is set to present its latest neighborhood development plan, targeting the revitalization of the downtown area.
Announced during a Common Council meeting on Wednesday night, the Downtown Plan emerges as a pivotal element following the city’s Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2015.
This initiative seeks to guide future development across six key areas: land use, economic development, community livability, mobility, natural resources, and sustainable systems, emphasizing community sustainability and social equity.
City planning staff have initiated an outreach blitz to gather input from businesses, residents, and visitors to refine the draft Downtown Plan.
City planners are dedicated to an extensive public engagement phase through April and May, including an open house and various outreach activities, to ensure broad community participation.
The final draft, enriched by public commentary, is expected by the end of May, with formal adoption anticipated in July.
