Explosion and fire under investigation in Dundee: No injuries reported

Late-Monday a major fire broke out following an explosion near State Route 230 in Dundee engulfing two barns. The Yates County 911 center received the emergency call at approximately 10:23 p.m., and deputies soon discovered both structures fully involved in flames.


Multiple fire departments, including Dundee, Penn Yan, Himrod, Benton, Wayne, Tyrone, Watkins Glen, and Hammondsport, responded to the scene. Fortunately, no individuals were inside the buildings at the time of the fire, ensuring there were no injuries reported.

The fire was successfully extinguished, but the cause remains under investigation by the Yates County Fire Investigation Team. The incident drew significant emergency resources, highlighting the coordinated response capabilities of local fire and ambulance services.
