Susan Orendorf of Camillus has pleaded guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child, confirmed by Onondaga County’s Chief Assistant District Attorney Jarrett Woodfork. Orendorf is set to receive a two-year probation sentence, alongside a five-year no-contact order to protect the victim, her adopted son, from further harm.
Investigations into Orendorf’s actions revealed a prolonged period of abuse spanning over five years, during which she notably withheld food from the 11-year-old boy, resulting in his hospitalization for malnourishment. Police documents further detailed more severe instances of abuse, including physical and verbal mistreatment, handcuffing the child to a bed frame, and forcing him to wear only a diaper.
The sentencing is scheduled for May 23 at 4 p.m. in Camillus Town Court.
