An Auburn property owner well-known in the Cayuga County area was sentenced to probation and weekends in jail after seeking sex with an underage girl.
Anthony Bartolotta will have to register as a sex offender and go to jail on the weekends for four months after pleading guilty to charges in Cayuga County court.
Among those Bartolotta was charged with was second-degree attempted rape, for communicating with a person he thought was 13-years-old. The goal, prosecutors said, was for Bartolotta to seek sex.
Turned out the person he was communicating with was actually a police officer, though.
His last weekend in jail will be July 28, prosecutors added.
Bartolotta owns and manages several commercial and residential properties in the area with his family’s company R&M Real Estate Group.
Last month, Brian Neilson, of Seneca Falls, and Daniel Miller, of Liverpool received the same sentence for their involvement in the investigation. All three were arrested at the same time.
