The Seneca Falls Police Department has shared the department’s activity report for February, revealing a busy month with 2,225 duty-related events. These included 705 calls for service, 1,236 property checks, and 248 traffic stops. The police issued 117 traffic tickets, encompassing one felony, 22 misdemeanors, and 94 infractions, and made one arrest for driving while intoxicated.
The department also handled 32 motor-vehicle accidents, one of which resulted in injury, and filed 67 criminal charges, including eight felonies. Additionally, there was a notable focus on mental health, with 24 calls related to mental health issues, leading to 17 people being taken for psychiatric evaluation. The use of technology, such as a department iPad, facilitated remote mental health services in one instance.
Comparing the statistics to February of the previous year, there were increases in calls for service, criminal charges, traffic tickets, and traffic accidents, among other areas, showcasing the department’s ongoing commitment to community safety and responsiveness.
