Empire State Development has kicked off the sixth round of the Grow-NY food, beverage, and agriculture startup competition. Open until May 15, this international contest invites innovative startups to vie for a share of $3 million in total prize money, aiming to foster job creation and economic growth within New York’s food and agriculture sector. Previous winners have already contributed to the creation of 289 new jobs across Central New York, the Finger Lakes, and the Southern Tier, showcasing the program’s impact on regional development.

Grow-NY, a unique initiative led by Empire State Development and administered by Cornell’s Center for Regional Economic Advancement, seeks to connect high-growth potential startups with the resources and networks necessary to thrive. The competition not only offers substantial financial rewards, including a top prize of $1 million, but also provides finalists with dedicated mentorship and business development support. This year’s program continues to emphasize sustainability and innovation, aligning with New York’s broader goals for a climate-smart bioeconomy.

Aspiring participants from around the globe are encouraged to apply, with the program highlighting its commitment to diversity and inclusion by attracting a wide range of entrepreneurs. With past winners achieving significant success and growth, Grow-NY stands as a pivotal platform for transforming the future of food and agriculture.
