Nicole Wright, who has served as the city clerk of Geneva for less than eight months, is transitioning to a new role within the city as a paid member of the Geneva Fire Department.
The Finger Lakes Times reports Wright, whose tenure as city clerk began in July 2023, will officially join the fire department on March 25, following her departure from the clerk’s office on March 22.
Her move to the fire department, where she will undergo probationary training, marks a significant career shift, aligning with her longstanding aspiration of becoming a career firefighter. Prior to her role as city clerk, Wright was a 911 dispatcher and a volunteer firefighter with the Hydrant Hose Company, even earning the title of Firefighter of the Year in 2017.
The city has begun the search for her successor with the job posting indicating a salary range of $69,500 to $72,700. Wright’s departure is met with support from city officials, including City Manager Amie Hendrix, who commended her service and contributions.
