Residents of the Waterloo water district are set to experience a 16.6% increase in their water rates, following an adjustment by the village of Waterloo.
The village, which supplies water to the district, has raised its rate to the town by the same percentage, impacting the cost for end users.
Currently, residents pay $62.60 for up to 7,500 gallons of water per quarter, with an additional charge of $6.26 for every 1,000 gallons used beyond this amount.
The Town Board held a public hearing on Thursday night to discuss the impending rate hike with community members.
This move comes in response to the village’s decision to adjust its pricing, which directly affects the financial burden on town water district residents.
