Tractor-trailer driver rescued from dangling cab over I-86 in Steuben County

Early Monday in Steuben County, a tractor-trailer driver was saved from a precarious position as his cab dangled over Interstate 390. The incident occurred when the vehicle, loaded with bags of mulch, crashed on the Interstate 86 flyover to 390 in Avoca around 4 a.m., prompting an emergency response from Bath firefighters.

The driver found himself trapped in the cab, hanging off the overpass above 390 North. Thanks to the efforts of Fleetpride, which helped stabilize the vehicle, and a skilled rescue team, the driver was safely extracted from the dangerous situation.

With the assistance of Bath’s rope rescue team and a fire truck crew, the driver managed to exit the cab onto an aerial platform. Following the rescue, the driver was transported from the scene by a Bath VA ambulance, ensuring his safety after the harrowing experience.
