Applebee’s and IHOP to share roof in new dual-branded restaurant concept

Dine Brands Global, the parent company of both Applebee’s and IHOP, announced plans to launch a dual-branded restaurant concept in the United States, allowing customers to enjoy offerings from both eateries under one roof. CEO John Peyton highlighted the initiative during an earnings call, pointing to the success of similar ventures in countries such as Canada, Kuwait, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. This innovative approach aims to combine the strengths of both brands, potentially doubling revenue by catering to more dining preferences throughout the day.


The proposed concept would feature a shared kitchen and blended dining area, maintaining separate brand identities while offering a unified dining experience. With separate entrances for Applebee’s and IHOP, the setup intends to optimize space utilization based on the time of day, ensuring that guests can enjoy their favorite meals from either menu in a cohesive environment.

While no specific timeline for the U.S. launch has been provided, Peyton expressed optimism about the concept’s potential to attract a broad customer base by merging the casual dining experience of Applebee’s with IHOP’s breakfast offerings. This strategy aims to enhance the dining experience by providing diverse menu options across different meal times, echoing the success of other dual-branded eateries familiar to American consumers.
