The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Hopewell man following a hate crime investigation at Finger Lakes Community College.
Joseph Goings, 20, of Hopewell was arrested for aggravated harassment as a hate crime after having sent messages to an individual – threatening physical harm. He’s accused of targeting the person because of their sexual orientation.
After being arrested, Goings was taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment. He was released and will answer the charges in Hopewell Town Court, deputies said.
A stay away order of protection was requested on behalf of the victim; and Goings has been banned from all FLCC properties by Finger Lakes Community College.
