On January 12 first responders were called to a house fire at 4999 State Route 414 in the town of Varick.
Around 8:30 a.m., deputies arrived at the scene to find smoke emerging from the roof of the residence. Despite a vehicle in the driveway, no one was found inside the house during the initial search by deputies and firefighters.
The homeowner, Abby Wilson, confirmed she was not present during the fire and reported that multiple pets were inside the house. Although the fire was eventually brought under control, the incident led to significant damage to the property. First responders said the fire originated in the kitchen.
Various fire departments responded to the scene, including Varick, Fayette, and others, alongside North Seneca Ambulance and Seneca County Codes. The Seneca County Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the fire. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is assisting the affected family.
