A late-night crash on Interstate 390 in Dansville resulted in the death of one man and left another seriously injured, New York State Police reported. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, involving a total of three vehicles.
The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. near exit 4 on I-390 North. A utility vehicle was helping a disabled tractor-trailer at the time. A northbound tractor-trailer hit the disabled vehicle, leading to this tragedy.
Two roadside responders from the utility vehicle were struck during the collision. A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, while an 18-year-old was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. The names of the victims and the driver have not been released yet as the investigation is ongoing. The crash led to significant disruptions, as the striking tractor-trailer ended up in the southbound lane after crossing the median.
