In Yates County, a 20-year-old man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to serious charges of incest and coercion. Nelson Weaver, a resident of Potter, faced the consequences of his actions in a recent court decision.
Weaver’s sentence includes 90 days in Yates County Jail, followed by three months of electronic home monitoring. Additionally, he will be under probation for ten years, a substantial period reflecting the severity of his offenses.
The Yates County District Attorney’s Office disclosed that a further hearing scheduled for February 13 will decide whether Weaver needs to register as a sex offender after his jail term. This registration is a standard procedure for such convictions, aimed at monitoring and preventing future offenses.
