Finger Lakes Laser devastated by structure fire in Seneca County

The owner of Finger Lakes Laser is speaking out after a fire devastated his earlier this week.

Several departments were dispatched to a structure fire on December 6 during the overnight hours. Varick, Fayette, Ovid, Romulus, and Waterloo fire departments responded to the scene, confirming a large shed fire.

When they arrived it was described as a working fire, and ultimately, the structure was destroyed.

Finger Lakes Laser posted to Facebook Wednesday confirming that the shed was a total loss.

“Last night the unthinkable happened, and my shed burned down with everything for my business. I was not able to save it, and it is a total loss,” Matt Jones, owner of Finger Lakes Laser wrote in an update. “Aside from some burns, I am OK. Just as a loss for words right now.”

He said prepaid orders will be refunded, and there were a few orders that were complete and remain deliverable. “I’ll be reaching out (to customers) in the next few days as I figure stuff out,” Jones continued. “My family and I are trying to figure out what to do next and this is and will be a very stressful and trying time. Thank you all for your support over the years. I promise you Finger Lakes Laser will be built back even better. It’s just gonna take a lot of time and hard work.”
