Tito E. Rodriguez, 29, pleaded not guilty in Cayuga County Court on Thursday to a significant drug possession charge.
Rodriguez was arraigned facing a first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charge, classified as a class A felony. The plea comes after Rodriguez was allegedly found with a substantial amount of fentanyl in his vehicle last month.
Rome Canzano, Rodriguez’s attorney, affirmed his client’s not-guilty plea.
The case is set to progress with a pre-trial conference scheduled for January 4.
This development follows an incident where New York State Police reportedly discovered over a kilogram of fentanyl in the trunk of Rodriguez’s vehicle on the Thruway near the town of Brutus on October 6.
His co-defendant, Bryan Rojas also faces serious charges. Rojas, who was also present in the vehicle during the October incident, faces the same charge of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and has previously entered a not-guilty plea.
