The trial of Michael Robinson, a 48-year-old Newark man, began Monday in Wayne County Court for the 2021 death of an Arcadia resident, Torey Mathis.
Robinson faces charges of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery in connection with the incident that occurred at Houses Motel on Route 31, near the village of Newark.
District Attorney Mike Calarco is leading the prosecution in this high-profile case, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
The victim, 52-year-old Mathis, was discovered deceased by sheriff’s deputies in an apartment at the motel following a welfare check.
David Morabito, an attorney, represents Robinson.
