ELECTION PREVIEW: Who’s running for Seneca Falls Town Board? What issues matter most to candidates and voters?

Who’s running for Seneca Falls Town Board? Ordinarily, a contest like this one — featuring two open seats with four candidates — would be considered standard fare in local elections. There are typically dozens of these contests playing out in any given local election year. That said, this one has attracted a different level of attention.

While many have focused on the candidates’ stance on issues surrounding the Seneca Meadows Landfill, it’s open expansion permit with the Department of Environmental Conservation, and how much longer it operates locally — the community is also left dealing with the significant issues related to infrastructure we’ve seen discussed in races elsewhere, like, Auburn, Canandaigua, and Geneva. There’s also a deep desire among voters and residents to see greater economic and housing development in the coming years, which will play a big role in determining what kind of community Seneca Falls is moving forward.

We featured interviews with three of the candidates seeking election. Unfortunately, we did not hear from incumbent Town Board Member Dawn Dyson to schedule an interview ahead of Election Day.
