Over the last 45 days we’ve been sitting down with candidates from across our coverage area talking with them about the biggest issues in their respective races. While not all candidates opted to participate, there were several key races that saw multiple candidates participate. Now that early voting is underway, we will be previewing contested races with multiple candidates who participated in our series.
Today we shine a spotlight in Geneva, which much like the Auburn contest for mayor, features two familiar faces: Democratic City Councilor Jan Regan and incumbent Democrat Steve Valentino, who is running as a Republican.
The reason for the shift in party affiliation goes back to the Democratic Primary in June, which featured the same contest. However, the challenger, Regan, won out there among Democratic voters. Fast forward to the general election and the same contest has set up with many of the same issues taking center stage.
Check out both interviews with the candidates below before heading to the polls to cast your vote.
