Collision at Palmyra intersection results in hospitalization

A rear-end collision at the intersection of State Route 31 and Vienna Road resulted in injuries and hospitalization for one individual, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports. Terry L. Peters, 76, was traveling westbound when he struck a vehicle operated by 66-year-old Robert J. Marriott of Macedon, who was stationary and preparing to turn left onto Vienna Road.

Marriott was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the crash. Peters, from the Town of Palmyra, did not sustain injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene. Witnesses indicated that Peters collided with Marriott’s vehicle at approximately 50 miles per hour, and evidence supported their accounts.

Peters received a traffic citation for following too closely. At the scene, deputies were aided by Finger Lakes Ambulance, Palmyra Fire Department, and South Macedon Fire Department as they addressed the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is handling the ongoing investigation.
