On a Thursday night in Blacksburg, Virginia, Syracuse needed a victory to turn the tide in the 2023 season. Once again, the Orange came out of another bye week lower than before. Syracuse was only to put up a lowly 10 points against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Orange have now been outscored 150 to 24 over the course of ACC play.
The offense was abysmal, making nine first downs on 138 total yards, a net zero rushing yards, and 18:18 in time of possession. Garrett Schrader’s recent struggles continued, connecting once for a touchdown with tight end Dan Vallari in the third quarter. The three remaining Orange points came in the second quarter off the toe of Brady Denaburg.
The Orange enter an extended week of sorts, taking the gridiron inside the confines of the JMA Dome next Friday. Syracuse will welcome Boston College for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Syracuse sits last in the ACC standings, with a record of 4-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
