Owasco woman charged with aggravated DWI after minor accident

Authorities say a local woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated after her vehicle went off the road.

Jamie Handley, 33, of Owasco, was arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on October 21 for DWI, Aggravated DWI per se with no prior, and other related vehicle and traffic violations.

While patrolling the vicinity of Melrose Road near Morningside Drive in Owasco, a Cayuga County Deputy encountered a motor vehicle accident around 10:23 p.m.

The initial investigation found that Handley’s vehicle had veered off the road and ended up in a ditch. Fortunately, the incident resulted in no injuries.

Handley was subsequently detained on suspicion of DWI.

After processing, Handley received traffic citations and is scheduled to appear before the Town of Owasco Court on November 14.
