The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office reported the skateboarder was traveling northbound when a vehicle, also headed north, hit him from behind. The incident occurred around 7:02 pm, just north of the Tompkins County Public Safety building, shortly after dusk.

Sheriff Derek Osborne confirmed the victim was found unresponsive on the scene and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver of the vehicle called 911 immediately after the collision, remained at the scene, and has been cooperating with the investigation.

Authorities closed a section of Warren Road for approximately four hours to allow the New York State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit to examine the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld as officials notify the family.
