Mets drop season finale to Phillies

The New York Mets closed out the 2023 season with a 9-1 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field on Sunday afternoon, finishing 74-87.

Jose Butto tossed six innings of two-run ball, but the offense managed just one run on two hits.

Tom Locastro was responsible for the lone run as he smacked his second home run of the season in the third inning, tying the game at one. Ronny Mauricio had the team’s only other hit.

Denyi Reyes (2.1 IP) allowed five runs, and Anthony Kay (0.2 IP) surrendered one run.
