Scipio man sentenced to years in prison for Lodi burglaries

David Laird of Scipio, Cayuga County, was sentenced to 2 to 7 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of third-degree burglary in Lodi.

Prosecutors confirmed the ruling, handed down by Judge Barry Porsch on Wednesday.

Laird was taken into custody by sheriff’s office investigators after committing two separate burglaries in February.

In the initial incident, Laird not only stole property but also unlawfully took a female’s vehicle, which he later damaged and abandoned nearby.

In the subsequent crime, he assaulted a male, causing injuries, though the man declined medical attention. Alongside his prison term, Laird is mandated to provide restitution, and the court has placed orders of protection for both victims.
